The snow has finally melted and everyone in Wilmington can finally leave their homes!! One reason so many people move to Wilmington, NC is to get away from the snow and ice! The last week of cold weather and snow and sleet has made many transplants take notice that (a) it rarely snows in Wilmington; so (b) we don't have any snow plows or salt trucks! So when it snows, our town in basically shut down for a few days! School lets out, banks shut down, everything comes to a screeching halt! It's kinda nice, but we're definiltey glad to be back in the swing of things.
Our real estate market in the greater Wilmington area is still heating up. Home values continue to rise, and interest rates are continuing to creep up, and seller's and buyers both know that now is probably the best time they'll see in the next 10-15 years to buy and sell.

Young adults are finally leaving their homes and buying houses!! Not only is this great news for parents (some of whom have probably been counting down the days!), but it's great news for our national market and out local Wilmington, NC real estate market.
In his blog article today, Steve Harney from the KCMBlog.com updates his previous article and confirms that his earlier assumption that kids would finally "leave the nest" is correct.
He writes that “Americans are setting up house at the fastest rate in more than six years, an indication that recession anxiety, which prompted adult children to move in with their parents and single people to postpone marriage, is starting to ease…"
